The Kosovo Accreditation Agency is officially recognized in the United States of America

The Board of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the USA has recognized the Kosovo Accreditation Agency for seven years (until 31.12.2033), with the status of a “recognized authority” in the United States of America.

In the official notification sent to the General Director of KAA, Naim Gashi, Loretta C. Waldron, Vice President for Recognition Services at the Council for Higher Education Accreditation in the USA, confirms that “the CHEA Board of Directors has approved the recommendation of the Committee and has recognized the Kosovo Accreditation Agency as an accrediting authority.”

Kosovo becomes the first and currently the only country in Europe with this important status in the United States of America.

This recognition by the United States comes less than a year after the Kosovo Accreditation Agency’s registration in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), making Kosovo the only country in the Western Balkans to hold this status.

This decision comes as a result of a broad and careful evaluation process and constitutes clear evidence of the reforms undertaken, institutional professionalism, and the continuous commitment of KAA to quality assurance in higher education.

This recognition strengthens the international credibility of Kosovo’s accreditation system, increases the reliability of study programs, and opens new opportunities for students, higher education institutions, and our diaspora.

For students, this means more opportunities for continuing studies, academic mobility, and facilitation in the recognition and evaluation of their diplomas abroad.

For higher education institutions in Kosovo, this is an important encouragement to deepen cooperation with international universities, especially American ones, as well as to further advance academic standards and the quality of study programs.

The President of the State Quality Council (SCQ), Professor Hasnije Ilazi, and General Director Naim Gashi, express their gratitude to the American partners and allies for this important recognition of its achievements. They also thank all institutional partners, academic staff, students, and civil society for their continuous cooperation and support.

This is a moment of pride for Kosovo and a major step forward for the higher education system in the country.

We have now proven it: Quality is our standard!
