European Commission Commends KAA for Excellence in Quality Assurance
The European Commission, in its Kosovo Report 2025, commended the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) for its European-level excellence in quality assurance in higher education.
“In July 2025, the Kosovo Accreditation Agency became a member of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher education, demonstrating Agency’s quality assurance processes full compliance with the European standards and guidelines”, the report states.
This recognition represents a major achievement not only for KAA but also for the higher education system of the Republic of Kosovo.
Kosovo is the only country in the Western Balkans to be listed in EQAR, following a positive evaluation by an international panel of experts. Based on this assessment, the EQAR Register Committee approved KAA’s inclusion on the Register.
The EQAR report highlights that KAA has significantly strengthened its human and professional capacities by expanding its staff and adopting new plans for employee development and training, thereby consolidating the Agency’s institutional and professional foundations.
It also praises KAA’s inclusion of students and industry representatives in decision-making, as well as the improvements in internal quality through regular surveys and analytical reviews. These advancements position KAA as a fully harmonized agency with European quality assurance standards.
Membership in EQAR carries special significance, as it makes Kosovo part of the European Higher Education Area, enhances the international credibility of its degrees, and facilitates their mutual recognition across EU member states. This achievement strengthens Kosovo’s academic integration into Europe and promotes transparency, accountability, and excellence across its higher education institutions.
