A delegation from the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) participated in Zagreb in the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE).

The KAA delegation consisted of the President of the State Council of Quality (SCQ), Prof. Hasnije Ilazi; the Director General of KAA, Mr. Naim Gashi; the Head of the Budget and Finance Division, Ms. Merita Rama; and the Senior Monitoring Officer, Mr. Betim Sherifi.

The KAA representatives were received in a dedicated meeting by ASHE’s Director, Ms. Danijela Horvatek Tomić, where discussions focused on deepening inter-agency cooperation, exchanging best practices, and advancing quality assurance processes in higher education.

As part of the anniversary activities, an international conference titled “Quality in Higher Education and Science: From Challenges to Opportunities – Together” was held, where Mr. Naim Gashi served as an invited panelist.

The KAA Director highlighted that Kosovo has established a broad national consensus on quality assurance in higher education, with all key stakeholders supporting the ongoing reforms—reforms that have significantly improved the international ranking and visibility of numerous universities and colleges in the country.

He further noted the substantial progress made by KAA, including the strengthening of post-accreditation procedures, the increased involvement of students and industry representatives in decision-making, and the modernization of internal processes—developments that contributed to the reconfirmation of KAA’s inclusion in EQAR until 2029.
