The heads of ENQA and KAA talk about applying to European quality assurance institutions

The Director of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), Naim Gashi, and the senior official Shkelzen Gërxhaliu, held on 16.12.2021, a meeting with the Director of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), Anna Gover and the Reviews Manager, Goran Dakovic.

The topic of this discussion was the application of KAA for membership in ENQA. ENQA leaders have praised the work of the KAA in implementing the European Standards and Guideline (ESG) for quality assurance in higher education and the implementation of ENQA recommendations from the preliminary evaluation.

The heads of KAA and ENQA agreed that KAA should apply for evaluation by ENQA, to pave the way for registration in the European Register for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (EQAR). KAA will also apply for membership as an “affiliate member” in ENQA.

ENQA Reviews Manager, Goran Dakovic said that the Kosovo Accreditation Agency has done a lot for the implementation of ESGs and ENQA recommendations and this is being proven by international experts who are assessors for the KAA.

The Director of KAA, Naim Gashi said that the Government of Kosovo has approved the Law on KAA, which has already been processed in the Assembly of Kosovo, and that the adoption of this law guarantees institutional and financial independence, according to the recommendations of ENQA.

Gashi said that the KAA, in accordance with its dynamic plan has implemented all the recommendations of ENQA and is preparing for evaluation by this European institution of quality assurance.
