Kosovo and Croatia Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Quality in Education

On 10 September 2025, at the premises of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), the President of the State Council of Quality (SCQ), Prof. Hasnije Ilazi, and the Director General, Mr. Naim Gashi, received the Ambassador of Croatia to Kosovo, H.E. Danijela Barišić.
The KAA leadership expressed their gratitude to the Ambassador for Croatia’s continuous support in helping the Agency meet European standards for membership in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).
Ambassador Barišić congratulated the KAA leadership on the Agency’s accession to EQAR, describing it as a major achievement for the Republic of Kosovo, for KAA, and for the higher education system in the country. She emphasized that Croatia’s support will continue in the future.
On this occasion, the President of the SCQ presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Embassy of Croatia, as a token of gratitude for the Embassy’s valuable contribution and consistent support to KAA during the EQAR membership process.
President Ilazi underlined that Croatia’s counterpart institution, the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE), has continuously provided professional expertise to strengthen KAA’s technical, regulatory, and institutional capacities in implementing European quality standards. She also expressed appreciation for the Embassy of Croatia’s recommendation regarding the appointment of Prof. Maja Martinović to the SCQ Board, highlighting her significant contribution to the Agency’s development.
For his part, Director Gashi commended Croatia and ASHE as exemplary models of quality assurance in higher education. He noted that a considerable number of Croatian accreditation experts have been engaged in evaluation processes in Kosovo, thereby contributing to the enhancement and advancement of study programs.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Barišić, accompanied by Dr. Nedjeljko Špilek, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Croatia, toured the new premises of KAA and was introduced to the Agency’s staff.
