Naim Gashi is re-elected General Director of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency
The Government of Kosovo, in the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has re-elected Naim Gashi for a second four-year term in the position of General Director of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA).
This Government’s decision came after the proposal of the Minister of MESTI, Arbërie Nagavci, who had evaluated Gashi’s positive performance in his first mandate.
The proposal at the Government meeting was presented by the Deputy Minister of MESTI, Ms. Edona Maloku Bërdyna.
“During the three years of his mandate, Mr. Gashi had a very good performance in the direction of AKA. Although he started work during the pandemic, he managed to successfully implement the process of accreditation of academic programs and institutions of higher education for three years in a row”, said ms. Maloku at the Government meeting.
She added that all local and international reports, including the three reports on Kosovo by the European Commission, present the work of the Accreditation Agency as very credible, professional and independent.
“Mr. Gashi has continuously submitted to MESTI the annual work reports and work plans for the following years, which have always received MESTI’s approval and support. In addition to the managerial and professional work in increasing the visibility of KAA within the country, Gashi has also done a great job in the internationalization of this institution abroad. Today KAA is a serious and respected partner of counterpart institutions in the region, Europe and the USA. KAA has been twinned with the Austrian counterpart Agency, while as a result of successful work and fulfilling the criteria, the Accreditation Agency last year received the Affiliate status in ENQA. Mr. Gashi has also compiled a dynamic plan for full membership in ENQA, for which MESTI and our Government have offered full support”, said Ms. Maloku Bërdyna.
The Deputy Minister of MESTI also added that as a result of building a cooperative spirit, the Accreditation Agency has benefited from the projects of international donors in advancing policies and raising internal technical capacities.
Another reason for this proposal is the national cohesion and the cooperation with all parties that KAA is doing to raise the quality and eliminate all the negative phenomena that the Agency has faced in the past.
“Mr. Gashi has directed the Accreditation Agency for the past three years and this institution was positively presented in the last three reports of the European Commission for Kosovo. During the first mandate, Mr. Gashi fulfilled the recommendations of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). As a result, the Accreditation Agency is an affiliate member of ENQA from September 3, 2022”, said Ms. Maloku in her proposal for the re-election of Mr. Gashi.
In addition to the Accreditation Agency, Mr. Gashi is also the Chairman of the State Commission for senior management positions within the Government of Kosovo, as the highest position in the Civil Service of Kosovo.
With the proposal of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, all ministers have voted for the re-election of Naim Gashi, General Director of the Accreditation Agency.
