Professor Hasnije Ilazi Recognized as Honorary President of Kosovo Accreditation Agency
The State Council of Quality (SCQ) and the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), upon the completion of her mandate, have proclaimed Professor Hasnije Ilazi Honorary President of KAA, in recognition of her “vision, leadership, and contribution to KAA and to the higher education system in the Republic of Kosovo.”
Professor Ilazi served as President of the SCQ for the past five years and did not seek a second mandate.
The decision to proclaim Professor Ilazi “Honorary President of KAA” was taken with full unanimity by the SCQ and the staff of KAA.
In the reasoning behind this decision, the Vice President of the SCQ, Klemene Miklavic, stated that the Kosovo Accreditation Agency has demonstrated exceptional dedication in building an institution grounded in sound standards, credible procedures, and professional integrity.
He emphasized that, through its inclusion in EQAR, the Agency has earned important recognition within the European Higher Education Area, demonstrating its alignment with rigorous standards of independence, credibility, and academic quality.
According to him, recognition by CHEA in the United States of America has given this achievement global significance, confirming that Kosovo’s quality assurance system is respected internationally as well.
Miklavic stated that states are built not only through great political moments, but also through the patient and often unseen work of strengthening their institutions. In this regard, he said, education holds a special place, because no society can be stronger than the quality of knowledge and learning it offers to its young people.
He added that many of the most important contributions to public life are made far from the spotlight, by individuals who offer their expertise, energy, and dedication in service of the public good.
“Professor Hasnije Ilazi is one of those individuals. Her work, commitment, and belief in the values of quality and institutional responsibility have helped strengthen the foundations of higher education in the Republic of Kosovo. Her contribution to the process that led the Kosovo Accreditation Agency toward international recognition deserves our deepest respect and gratitude,” Miklavic said.
On behalf of the State Council of Quality and the Kosovo Accreditation Agency, the Vice President of the SCQ said that it is an honour and a privilege to present this recognition to Professor Hasnije Ilazi, with sincere appreciation and deep gratitude for her distinguished service, highly ethical conduct, and lasting contribution to Kosovo’s institutional and academic development.
