The State Council of Quality (SCQ) of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), on 3 March 2026, held its regular annual meeting with higher education institutions in the Republic of Kosovo, namely with deans, vice-deans, quality coordinators, and programme directors.

Representing the SCQ at this meeting were the Chair of the Council, Professor Hasnije Ilazi, SCQ members Professor Gëzim Tosuni and Professor Avni Berisha, as well as the student member, Ms. Shkurte Bajgora. On behalf of the KAA, the meeting was attended by the Director General, Mr. Naim Gashi, and the Director for Accreditation, Mr. Arianit Krasniqi.

At the outset of the meeting, Chair Ilazi addressed the key developments within the KAA, placing particular emphasis on the drafting and adoption of the KAA Strategy 2026–2030. The Strategy comprises four principal objectives and is fully aligned with the national legal framework, national strategic orientations, and European quality standards.

She underlined that this Strategy will serve as a guiding document for further institutional development and for the consolidation of both internal and external quality assurance processes.

Chair Ilazi further stated that a key priority for 2026 will be the KAA’s application for full membership and recognition as an authority by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the United States, as well as the approval of the Regulation on double-degree and joint programmes, with the aim of advancing international cooperation and enhancing academic mobility.

Representatives of higher education institutions highly commended the cooperation and the role played by the KAA in promoting and safeguarding quality in higher education in the Republic of Kosovo, emphasizing the importance of continuous institutional dialogue.

Participants also put forward concrete recommendations for the improvement and further refinement of procedures and processes, with a view to strengthening the quality of study programmes and enhancing academic transparency and accountability.
