The State Council of Quality (SCQ) of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) held its regular meeting on 14.04.2023, in which several items of the agenda were discussed. In this meeting, the reports of international experts on the process of accreditation and re-accreditation at the institutional level and academic programs were reviewed and decided upon. The General Director of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA), Naim Gashi, received the Ambassador of Italy in Kosovo, Mr. Antonello De Riu, with whom they discussed about the possibility of opening study programs in Italian language in higher education institutions in Kosovo. The Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) participated in the conference organized in Brussels by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Register for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (EQAR), where it was discussed about the cooperation at the European level of the six countries of the Western Balkans for enhancing the quality in higher education. The Government of Kosovo, in the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has re-elected Naim Gashi for a second four-year term in the position of General Director of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA). This Government's decision came after the proposal of the Minister of MESTI, Arbërie Nagavci, who had evaluated Gashi's positive performance in his first mandate. The Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) has started the accreditation process for 2023, which is being conducted with the physical presence of international accreditation experts. Initially, international experts are conducting the evaluation process at the institutional level, to then continue with the accreditation process at the level of the study programs. On the first day of this process, the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj was evaluated, and the process will continue with other institutions of higher education.

The State Council of Quality (SCQ) of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (AKA), at its 108th meeting, which lasted three days, reviewed applications of higher education institutions for institutional accreditation, and accreditation and re-accreditation of study programs. Higher education institutions have been notified in writing by KAA about the decisions of the Council. In this meeting, SCQ also approved the list of international experts who will participate in the accreditation process. In addition, SCQ also approved the KAA Activities Plan for 2023, which derives from the KAA Strategic Plan. In this meeting, SCQ reviewed all the requests of HEIs.

Starting on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, members of the SCQ and staff members from the KAA are visiting the AQ Austria for a three-day visit as part of the twinning project between the two agencies. The project is funded by ADA as part of the HERAS+ Project. During the visit, best practices and experiences will be shared between the homologue agency members, and AQ Austria is also sharing much information regarding their compliance with the ESG 2015 standards and the lessons learned over the year.

Today, on December 5th, 2022, the KAA took part at the inaugural meeting of the Global Academic Integrity Network. The KAA was represented by Mr. Flamur Abazaj, where the network held it’s first meeting, where all intended members of the network presented themselves, and provided feedback to a variety of topics presented by the network chairs.
