Kosovo and Slovakia are cooperating to improve the quality of higher education

A delegation of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) was received in Bratislava by the leaders of the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (SAAVS), with whom they discussed about cooperation in the field of quality in higher education, academic exchanges and the possibility of joint projects.

The delegation of KAA consisted of the Chairperson of the State Council of Quality (SCQ), professor Hasnije Ilazi, the general director of KAA, Naim Gashi, and the senior official for accreditation, Ilirjana Ademaj Ahmeti.

On the Slovakian side the KAA delegation was hosted by professor Robert Redhammer, chairman of the SAAVS Board, professor René Matlovič, deputy chairman of the Board and Dušan Faktor, head of the SAAVS Office.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of SCQ, Hasnije Ilazi, presented the work of KAA in accreditation processes, the development of mechanisms for continuous quality improvement, as well as the implementation of all recommendations for regaining full membership to the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Register for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (EQAR).

Chairperson Ilazi said that in Kosovo a social cohesion has been created by all actors in higher education for the support of KAA in raising the quality of study programs.

The head of the Slovakian Agency, professor Redhammer, said that SAAVS underwent the final evaluation for ENQA membership this year and showed the Slovak experiences in fulfilling the recommendations.

Mr. Redhammer accepted the invitation of Ms. Ilazi for Slovakia’s accreditation experts to be involved in the accreditation process in Kosovo.

Ms. Ilazi invited the heads of SAAVS to participate in the international conference of KAA, which will be held in Pristina on September 26, 2023.

Both delegations agreed to continue cooperation in joint international projects related to quality assurance mechanisms.
