The KAA Launches Institutional Accreditation Process at the University of Prishtina
On November 18, 2024, the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA) initiated the institutional accreditation process at the University of Prishtina. This is the first accreditation to be carried out under the new accreditation standards based on the approved Law on the Kosovo Accreditation Agency.
The team of experts assessing the University of Prishtina is led by Professor Melita Kovacevic from the University of Zagreb. The team also includes Deputy Rector Magdalena Platis from the University of Bucharest, Professor Mauro Zarreli from the National Research Council in Naples, Italy, and student expert Marija Vasilevska.
This week, two teams of international accreditation experts will assess, at the institutional level, six higher education institutions across the Republic of Kosovo using the new evaluation standards, which came into effect on October 1, 2024.
Before the evaluation process commenced, KAA organized training sessions for higher education institutions, as well as for the experts involved in the evaluation process.
At its 116th meeting, held on September 25, 2023, the State Council of Quality (SCQ) of KAA approved the Standards for the accreditation/re-accreditation of higher education institutions at the institutional level, as well as for bachelor and master’s degree programs.
In developing these standards, AKA ensured the involvement of both national and international members of the State Quality Council, local and international higher education experts, higher education institutions, civil society representatives, student representatives, officials from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), international education sector donors, and other relevant stakeholders in the field of higher education.
